Public and Private IP Addresses

Private IP addresses and public IP addresses are two types of IP addresses that are used to identify devices on a network.

Private IP addresses are used to identify devices within a private network, such as a home network.  These addresses are not visible to the outside (internet) and they are usually in the range of 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255, 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255, or 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255.

Public IP addresses, on the other hand, are used to identify devices that are connected to the Internet.

Public IP addresses are used to identify devices that are connected to the Internet. These addresses are assigned by ISPs to devices that are connected to their networks.

In summary, private IP addresses are used to identify devices within a private network, while public IP addresses are used to identify devices that are connected to the Internet. Private IP addresses are not visible to the outside while public IP addresses are visible to the outside.
